Hexalon is a small, independently run game server. These are the terms you play under.
Hexalon is an online board game about settling an island, trading resources and building roads and towns. It is run by a small team as a side project. Playing is free. Some conveniences are paid for by a subscription, and what each plan carries is on the plans page.
You can play as a guest without an account. An account gets you a username that is yours, a rating, and a record of your games. You choose that username yourself, and it has to be a name somebody else would not mind sitting next to: not another player's, not one meant to pass you off as somebody you are not, and not one we would rather not print on a leaderboard.
Keep your password to yourself. If you sign in with Google or Discord, whoever holds that account can sign in as you, so look after it in the same way.
Play your own games. Do not automate a seat, run several accounts at one table, or arrange a result between accounts you control. Do not attack the service, scrape it in bulk, or look for holes in it and then use them. If you find a hole, write to us and we will thank you properly.
We can close a table, deactivate an account or delete one when somebody plays against these terms. An account that is deactivated keeps everything and simply cannot sign in. A deleted account is gone, and deletion is described on the privacy page, because what happens to the games it played needs more than a sentence.
Subscriptions are taken through Stripe, who handle the payment and hold the card details; we never see them. A plan renews until you cancel it, and cancelling stops the next renewal rather than the one you are in, so you keep what you paid for until the period ends. Nothing here takes away the rights you have as a consumer where you live, including any right to withdraw from a purchase.
This is a hobby server, not an institution. It goes down, it gets restarted, and a game in progress can be lost when that happens. Ratings are recalculated as the system improves and may move. Features come and go. We do our best, and we offer the service as it is, without a warranty, and we are not liable for anything beyond what the law will not let us exclude.
The rules of this genre have been played for decades and belong to nobody here. The code, the art, the names and the words on these pages are ours. Do not pass them off as yours.
When these terms change, the date below changes and the new version is the one that applies. If a change matters to you, stop using the service or close your account. These terms are governed by Belgian law, and any dispute belongs to the courts there, without taking away any right you have to bring a claim where you live.
